“Hello! My name is Ian, and I’m passionate about restoring balance — in health, life, and the way we care for ourselves.”

I’m the Founder and Commercial Director of Advanced Integrative Health & Wellness (AIW), a multidisciplinary health centre that blends modern diagnostics with integrative therapies. At AIW, we provide personalised wellness plans designed to support healing, prevent imbalance, and promote longevity — all in a warm, medically guided environment.

Our mission is to make wellness accessible, affordable, and proactive. From genetic and diagnostic screening to holistic therapies, we help individuals and families understand their health better, take charge earlier, and live with more clarity and energy.

Here is my story and why Advanced Integrative Health & Wellness is redefining what it means to feel truly well.

How did you get involved in the industry and in Malaysia
Originally from Singapore, Ian has called Malaysia home for over 20 years. With more than three decades of experience across every vertical of the insurance industry — from underwriting and broking to senior leadership roles — his career has always centred on building trust-based ecosystems. But in recent years, a personal journey toward better health, combined with a desire to make meaningful impact, led Ian to pursue his MBA in 2023. This academic milestone gave him the clarity and conviction to transition into a space that aligned with both his values and his vision.

In 2024, he launched Advanced Integrative Health & Wellness (AIW) in Sri Petaling — bringing together his corporate experience and his lifelong passion for health, fitness, and personal development.

What made you decide to go into this business and industry
The decision to start AIW wasn’t just a business move — it was a calling. After years navigating the financial risks of others, Ian realised that the most underinsured asset people often neglect is their health. His own commitment to fitness, resilience, and spiritual wellness revealed how fragmented and reactionary modern healthcare had become. He envisioned a centre where preventive care, integrative therapies, and medical-grade diagnostics could work hand-in-hand — where people don’t wait to fall sick to seek care, but are empowered to stay well, long before illness arrives.

AIW was born out of this desire to bridge that gap — to offer a kinder, smarter, and more forward-thinking approach to health.

How is AIW different from the other competitors
What makes AIW distinct isn’t just the range of services — it’s the philosophy behind them. AIW blends the best of clinical diagnostics, genetic screening, and functional wellness into a seamless experience guided by medical professionals. It’s a place where advanced science meets personalised healing, grounded in the belief that no two individuals are the same. Beyond its integrative approach, AIW is also one of the few centres actively building cross-sector collaborations — with insurance firms, corporate wellness platforms, gyms, traditional medicine practitioners, and more.

Whether you’re an executive looking to optimise performance or a company seeking holistic employee wellness, AIW meets people where they are — and walks with them toward where they want to be.

The value that AIW provides to our clients
At AIW, value means more than just services — it means outcomes that matter. Clients walk in with questions about fatigue, immunity, ageing, or stress, and leave with clarity, action plans, and a renewed sense of control. Whether through corporate wellness programmes tailored for organisations like Maybank or health screenings designed for families, AIW delivers personalised insights that empower better decisions. More than that, AIW offers something rare in today’s fast-moving world: the time, care, and expertise to truly understand each person’s health journey.

This isn’t about treating symptoms — it’s about building foundations for long-term vitality, performance, and peace of mind.

Insights for the industry or marketplace
The health and wellness industry in Malaysia is at a pivotal turning point. As awareness grows around functional and integrative medicine, so too does the demand for credible, holistic solutions. Businesses are no longer viewing employee health as a checkbox — they’re recognising it as a core productivity driver and brand value. The shift from reactive treatment to proactive wellness is gaining momentum, but education remains key.

AIW is helping lead that conversation — by showing how data-driven care, when combined with empathetic practice, can transform not just individuals, but communities and workplaces as a whole.

What do you think are the challenges and where are the opportunities for Malaysian businesses in relation to your industry?
One of the biggest challenges is awareness. Many Malaysians still associate healthcare with hospitals and illness — not with prevention, optimisation, or resilience. Integrative wellness remains misunderstood or seen as a luxury. But this gap also presents the greatest opportunity. As Malaysian companies become more people-focused and globally competitive, they’re seeking wellness partners who can deliver results — not just massages and mindfulness, but measurable improvements in energy, mental clarity, and long-term health.

The opportunity lies in creating smart, scalable wellness ecosystems — and AIW is positioned to help businesses do just that, one partnership at a time.

AIW is a functional medical clinic. We specialise in a range of basic to the latest functional blood tests and diagnostics tools. We unlock health challenges, offering preventive medicine that is rooted in wellness. Unlike conventional medicine which focuses on treating symptoms and diseases, integrative medicine aims to find and address the root causes of health issues.
